Market set up & Steve for having signs made up for the tables. The December Farmer’s
Market will have 4tables. The Charter Clubs will now
be listed in a separate booklet & no longer be in the Grand Times. This will
give
us more space for information about the Club. Channel 22 has requested to do an interview showing off the Club. Susan Lee
Walling has been asked to assist.

Treasurer's Report
The Club has a total of
$19,984.08 in its accounts (Checking= $2,110.11 and Savings = 17,873.97). Our cash

want to be added to the Towel List.
Committee Reports
Consignment: Sales are up for the year, we sold $2,630 at Oktoberfest. We sold $406 at
the 1st Farmer’s
Market. Consignment people need to sign 2015 contracts. Labeling has been standardized to 2 different
labels
stored to the right of the in baskets in the office. Monitors – be sure checks are made out to artists,
not
the Club. In December, the number
of items per artist will go to 8 pieces, still 15 for jewelry.
Education: Bobbi reported a total of
41 new members taking intro thru the November. Also, during that time.
a total of 170 members have taken classes. New classes are: Mosaic on Glass, Mosaic
on Backerboard
(Wedi Board now), Boxes and Foil & Solder Refresher.
Equipment: 1 grinder
is out for repair. The dicro blade will be put on the Taurus II (grey) saw tomorrow.
We’re ordering a new Glastar beveling grinder in the new year.
Monitor: Monitor checklist is working. There is a book on the monitor’s desk to
file completed forms. Ginny and
Marilyn
have developed a form for quarterly sign up for doing towels. This will make it easier for the monitor to call people to wash
towels.
Security: A new system was installed
in January. The only problem caught was maintenance being caught
not locking the front door.
Kiln: Cheryl not present. Nothing to
report.
Social:
Marcia has appointed 3 people to handle these functions
– Patti Chambers House Tour &
Dinner,
Janet Merritt – Spring
Sale & Newcomer’s Coffee & Jean Peterson – Oktoberfest.
Webmaster: The back up for Susan is Ed Sheer. Any changes, please contact her.

New Business:
· The exceptions and additions
to the CCP & P’s (Chapter 12 & 13) was read by Marilyn. This

there is no
other candidate.” The
membership passed this section.
·
The 2015 Budget was presented. Equipment & other
expenses were discussed. It was moved &
seconded
by Nancy W. & Susan L. Walling to approve the budget as stated & passed by the membership.
·
Marcia explained the moving of the came and zinc to
new shelving in the Club & shelves being added
to the Kiln room.
·
The work tables will be cut down to accommodate heavy
duty locking rollers. This will happen
probably
in December.
· Kay’s Korner Mosaic project is going well. A card is in the office for members
to sign. The dedication
will take place in December when her family is visiting. Bobbi & Marcia will email
more details as the
time gets closer.

President's Report - Marcia Scala
· Thanked the Social Committee for their work on the Spring Craft Fair,
House Tour, and
Spring Social BBQ.
· Met with
the new Association director, Ken Olsen, regarding
o Moving
the came and possibly getting CAM to pay for it.
o Issues
involved in moving the tables for Oktoberfest and Spring Craft Sale.
Vice President’s Report - JoAnn Cuyler
· Thanked
everyone for posting needs on the clipboard in a timely fashion and requested
that everyone be patient regarding how fast she can purchased items.
· She is
examining the extensive inventory to determine essential items, with an eye to
eliminating nonessential items.
Secretary’s Report - Nancy Williams
· Both computers
are up and running well. Please sign the Glass Eye Tally next to the
Studio computer if you are using Glass Eye to either make a pattern or work on the Glass
Eye tutorial.
· Modeled
our new waterproof aprons for use with the Taurus Saw or the slant-top
grinders.
Treasurer’s Report - Jack Woltz
· We broke
even on the Spring Social and made $204 net to the Club on the Spring Sale.
· We have
$3481 in our checking account, 17,866 in our savings account, and $200 each in
the Consignment and Monitor Cash accounts.
Committee Reports:
Consignment
· The consignment policy has changed from removing consignment items every
2
months to changing them out every 6 months: Jan 1-June 30, and July 1-Dec 31.
Education - Bobbie Barnes
· In the first quarter 112 people participated, with 31 in Intro and 23
in Beginning
Fusing. Two night classes were held (Intro and Beginning Fusing). Two new
classes (Mosaic on glass and Mosaic on backer-board) have been introduced.
Glass cutting and soldering workshops will be held over the summer. Fran will
teach a mosaic class on birdhouses (etc.) in the Fall - look at the lighthouse on the
window sill to get an idea of what she is going to teach (it is really nice!).
· Mentors
are needed: If you are doing consignment, this opportunity provides you
with one of the extra credits needed.
· Instructors
are needed. If you take a class elsewhere, there is a possibility of
reimbursement for the cost of the class if you teach what you learned (see
Bobbie).
Equipment
· Fran Swartz discussed the need to recertify on the Taurus saw. Of note:
ü Use rubber cement (NOT glue stick or Vaseline) over the pattern. (Note:
Please supply your own rubber cement.)
ü Rotate largest gear counterclockwise to clean, and use a toothbrush on the belt
and wheels.
ü Teardrop tape should be used to cover the grid hole (see Elgin)
ü Taurus
is to be used on difficult cuts only!
ü If you sign it out and someone else takes it over, they must sign it out and
staple their signout sheet to the first sheet.
ü If you want to use it at night, sign it out before 4 pm, clean it and it will be
checked in the morning.
ü If
the monitor does not know how to check it for cleanliness, teach them.
Monitor - Ginny Cimino
· The front door is scheduled to unlock between 7 and 7:30 am, and lock
between 4
and 4:30. It is not precise!
· The office
door is open between 9 and 4. Only Board members can unlock it at
other times.
· Steve
will act as "the bank" if change is needed by the monitor. Change is also
available in the water money container on the top of the refrigerator.
Security - Gary Jueckstock
· Everything is aok.
Kiln
· Please do not use soap on the sponges in the kiln room. It really messes
up the
kiln wash on the kiln shelves.
Social (see Treasurer's report)
· Let the Board know if you are interested in joining this committee.
Web Master - Susan Blackman
· Only 3 people responded to her request regarding the need for an interactive
web
page. The current site cannot accommodate an interactive feature, so we will
stick with what we have.
· Susan
has posted a slide show of the house tour, as well as pictures from the
Spring Sale.
Old Business:
Interactive
Web page (see above)
New Business:
· Last Arts Council Sale: These will return in the Fall. These are an
excellent opportunity
for those doing consignment to sell their items.
· Moving
Morton Board test: Very successful! Many more people are using the short
table. Please do not move the rulers on either the Morton board or the Beetle board!
Moving location of lead came: We are working with CAM on this. The estimate is
~$1500.
· Glass
Convention: Great show as usual. Again, if you take a class at the show and come
back and teach it, you can be reimbursed (see Bobbie).
· Change
of Consignment Policy: The consignment policy has changed from changing out
consignment items every 2 months to changing them out every 6 months: Jan 1 - June 30,
and July 1 - Dec 31.
Suggestion Jar:
Coat
rack: The Board could see no viable place to put a coat rack.
Announcement/Reminder:
If you are leaving for the summer, you MUST remove all of your items from the
Club. If you don't, they will be discarded.
The meeting
was adjourned at 5:10 pm (m-Herb/s-Swartz/passed).

Two HP computers with Windows 7 have been
ordered. Each has 2 GB of memory and, if
needed, has a slot for another 2 GB. One computer will be in the office and
have MSOffice installed. The other is
for Glass Eye and will be located on a mobile computer desk in back of the file
cabinet. The microwave will move to the
back counter, where the old computer is currently located.
We
will keep a tally of people who actually use
this computer to design patterns.
Individuals who
have not yet paid dues were
reminded to pay them before the end of the month to avoid a late fee.
Treasurer's Report - Jack Woltz
The two CDs matured and the money was placed in
our savings account as the CD rate was the same as the interest rate on
savings.
We have $6,993 in Checking and
$17,867 in
Savings, for a total of 24,860. We
maintain 2 cash accounts for consignment ($100) and Monitor ($200) for a total
of $300. Therefore we have a total of
$25,160.
Member At Large - Marilyn Herb
Committee Reports
Consignment
(Harriet Podolsky)
If you are selling wares this year, you must
sign a contract. Amounts displayed are limited to 15 pieces of jewelry or 10
pieces on the shelves. If you are
selling both, 8 pieces of jewelry and 10 on the shelves. Each piece should be
labeled with name and
price, not a phone number.
There will be an Arts Council
Sale on 1/18 &
19. The classroom will be available for those wishing to sell. Artists must
have a signed consignment contract and bring their own change. No sign-up is
necessary. Sell as much or as little as you wish,
however please make room for everyone who wants to sell. The Art Club,
Photography Club and Ceramic Club are also participating. Keep track of your
sales on the back of your sale envelope, place 10% of your sales in the
envelope at the end of the day and give it to Harriet.
The
Studio side will be open for all who wish to
work on their projects.
Education
(Bobbi Barnes)
- Steve Brodsky has made new boards (18x48")
for
Windows Workshop only. He has also made 3 new lamp Georges.
- If you are taking
Windows Workshop, you need to discuss your pattern with Wayne Hopman well
before the start of the class and give Chuck Willford plenty of time to
produce your pattern.
- Scott Banner will do a
Windows Repair Workshop (How to, not hands on) Feb. 4, from 1-3. Sign-up at
the front desk.
- Bobbi is interested in
ideas for new classes. Please
contact her if you have an idea.
- New classes in the
works:
- Mosaic
on glass
- Mosaic
and fusing
- Tapestry
using Roll ends
- All Students will
complete Instructor evaluations.
- If
you are in an afternoon class, please allow the morning class to clean up
and finish before you enter.
Equipment (Elgin Tyus)
- Everything
is okay, except one grinder is out for repair.
Monitoring (Ginny Cimino)
- Please read the new
Monitor instructions in the notebook.
- Two issues:
If
your CAM number changes, you must give your new one to Ginny or you will not
get credit for monitoring. This is
particularly the case for those of you who rent.
If
people sign up for the Intro class, remember to have them complete a membership
application when they sign up. They
should not take the application with them.
Security (Gary Jueckstock)
- Security
is being upgraded.
Kiln (Cheryl Rabay)
- Everything
is running smoothly.
Social (Judy Santos)
- Spring Fair: We will
have 2 tables outside for people who wish to sell 1-4 objects, however you
need to man the table for 2 hours.
- Spring
Social will be Saturday March 22. Please note this date change! The
house tour will be linked to the dinner. Guests can come and there will be
a Silent Auction.
Web (Susan Blackman)
- Everything is updated with the schedule,
calendar, pictures, a copy of the new membership handbook and Las Vegas
show information.
- She is exploring making the website
interactive, so that you could sign-up for monitoring online.
- Please
contact Susan at Seblackman@gmail.com with the 3 most important things you
would like to see on the website.
Old Business
New Business
- We are working on a new
location for lead came at the front of the studio.
- We are trying the Beetle
(Morton) Board in the classroom to provide more space on the short table
for those who need to sit when they work.
- The Kiln committee
decided that because our policy does not allow non-kiln committee members
to put items in the kiln, frit art (sometimes known as frit tapestry)
cannot be fired there. Kiln
committee members do not want to take responsibility for frit falling off
or similar disasters.
- Please donate to the Wounded Warriors Silent Auction. Two shelves
are reserved at the front of
the studio for donations. Mark the
price on each object, and object should be worth >$25.
Move to adjournment:
M (Harriet Podolsky)/S(Judy Santos)/passed unanimously at
5:05 pm.
Submitted by Nancy Williams, Secretary
Grand Glass Arts Club

p.m. in the Cimarron Club at the Cimarron Center.
Club Officers present were: President Steve Brodsky, Vice President Marcia Scala, Treasurer Jack Woltz,
Secretary Bobbi Barnes, and Member at Large Marilyn Herb. Committee Directors present were: Ginny Cimino-Monitoring, Nancy
Williams – Security, Cheryl Rabay -Kiln, Jo Ann Cuyler-Social, Elgin Tyus –Equipment, Harriet Podolsky-Consignment
& Susan Blackman -Web. Committee Director not present was Kay Kuciak- Education.
The
July 29th meeting minutes were
moved and seconded by Marilyn and Marcia, then approved by the Board.
President’s Report:
Steve is participating in the revision of the Charter Club by-laws. They will be ready soon and probably
presented to the Club Presidents in January. Individual club exceptions will be attached as an amendment to individualize
the clubs particular needs. Steve thanked all the past & present Board and Committee members that have served with him
during his tenure. The Club will be featured on the cover of the Grand Times for December.
Vice
President’s Report:
Marcia said supplies are up to date. She and Bobbi had just
attended a meeting with Ceramics and the Art Clubs to synchronize weekend selling schedules. This will be finalized in the
next month for next year and we may possibly be able to coordinate weekends for the holiday season.
Secretary’s Report:
If you have moved (new CAM #), have a new phone number
or a new email address, please provide this information to the Secretary and Monitor Chair. Name tags will be ordered the
week after Thanksgiving. It will take a week or so after that before they will be available for pickup.
Treasurer’s Report:
Jack reported the cash monies as of November 19th are checking
$2,508.10, savings $7,146.57, cash on hand $300.00, CD's $10,712.69 totaling $20,667.36.
Member at Large:
Marilyn is keeping the towels cleaned and the water supply is monitored.
A new towel list is being compiled for those that are unable to sit for long periods of time, or are caretakers & can’t
be away for any length of time. Those winter residents that are here under 6 months can do towels 2 times in lieu of
monitoring. We always need monitors in the AM since we are open officially from 9 AM to 12:30 PM.
Committee Director Reports:
Consignment – Harriet reported that sales for the artists thru October were $5,291. CAM
received $254.55. At this time, the limit for each artist is still 10 items.
Education
–Kay was not there to report. Marcia reported as chair of the education committee. Revisions have been made to the clubs
intro training. Three venues are being taught – mosaic, fusing and foil and solder. This has seemed to add more interest
with the new members. The Mentoring program seems to be successful, providing guidance to those members. The Board voted to
raise the Intro Class price to $100 to include a name badge for the new members. It will be stressed that everyone in
the Club wear a name badge (one maybe worn from another Club).
Equipment –Elgin
put the third Taurus saw back in service. One grinder needs to be repaired.
Monitoring
–Ginny reported these items. The Cash Tracking sheet is how you get your monitoring credits. Be sure to sign in &
out reporting the amount of cash received & deposited in the daily slot on the sheet. If you monitor all day, sign out
& back in showing morning & afternoon to receive full credit. Be sure you post your correct CAM number. Not doing
this makes extra work for the Chair. A new duties sheet has been updated by Nancy Williams. It explains the monitoring duties
better.
Security & Computers– Nancy reported the security problems have
been decreased since the jewelry has been moved into a case. The Board is looking into purchasing new computers both for the
office & Glass Eye. They are also looking at purchasing an upgraded version of the program. If you are drawing from an
existing design, please copy the design onto the desk (in your own folder) before making changes.
Kiln – Cheryl reported Jo Ann Cuyler is now on the committee & Marcia is now a lead firer.
Social – Jo Ann reported Oktoberfest ran on a skeleton crew, but this flowed well. ‘Monthly group
dinners’ is an idea that began this month. The group will pick a local restaurant and make reservations.
Web Master – Susan will be putting new pictures on the website. She is also posting pertinent emails on
the site.
Old Business:
- None
New Business:
- 2014
Budget – the Board approved 2014 Budget was handed out to the members. The membership also approved the Budget for the
next year.
-
Tag Sale – the sale will be February 8th from 9 to 12 on the classroom side.
Members need to provide their own change. No monies go to the Club or CAM.
- Elections – Ginny
Cimino reported the results of the election. Marcia Scala is President & Nancy Williams is Secretary. Those positions
are 2 year terms. The new Board will call for candidates for Vice President & interview members interested in the position.
Items in the Suggestion
Jar – No items were in the jar.
The meeting was moved and seconded to adjourn by the membership at 5:15 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted,
Bobbi Barnes, Secretary
