SUN CITY GRAND GLASS ARTS CLUB

MONITOR CREDIT POLICY

MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATES EACH PERSON TO PROVIDE SERVICE TO THE CLUB. (SEE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION)

DEFINITION:

MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATION - FOR ALL MEMBERS IS EARNING FOUR (4) MONITOR CREDITS. EACH MONITOR CREDIT CONSISTS OF STUDIO MONITOR DUTY OF 3 1/2 HOURS OR EQUIVALENT DURING THE PRECEDING FOUR QUARTERS. THIS INCLUDES PART TIME RESIDENTS. OBLIGATION IS TO EACH MEMBER AND CANNOT BE FULFILLED BY ANOTHER MEMBER OR SPOUSE. OBLIGATION FOR NEW MEMBERS BEGIN IN THE FIRST QUARTER FOLLOWING THEIR COMPLETION OF THE INTRODUCTION TO STAINED GLASS CLASS.

MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING:   Is a member who is current in fulfilling their membership obligation.

STUDIO MONITORING:  Service in the studio as monitor for 3 ½ hours.

Effective immediately -8/11/2011

If 2 people choose to monitor together, only 1 person will receive a monitoring credit. The person receiving the credit will be the only 1 signing the 'Cash Tracking' sheet. The only exception will be for 'new' members monitoring the first time since they are being trained at the position.

Alternative monitoring credits Effective 12/1/12

Towels

Disabled members may wash towels for credits to maintain good standing.

Winter visitors: If residing in SCG 6months or less, a member can earn 1 credit by washing towels one time. They, then, must monitor at least 3 more times to total 4 credits for the year. If residing in SCG 3 months or less, a member can earn 2 credits per year washing towels. They, then, need to monitor at least 2 times to total 4 credits for the year.

Social Committee

Serving on the social committee can earn up to 2 credits per year. Member still must monitor at least 2 times for the remainder of the 4 credits necessary to maintain good standing. Credits earned are at the discretion of the social committee chairperson.

Miscellaneous

Special circumstances may be discussed with the Monitor Chairperson.

Keep in mind that members can bank up to 6 credits per year to maintain good standing within the club.

Members are exempt from monitoring if they participate in one of the following:

Board Member, Committee Chair, Kiln Committee, or Class Instructor

A member on the towel list may possibly be asked to wash towels an additional time, if necessary, without credit, for the good of the club.

BANKED CREDITS:

A member in good standing who earns more than one monitor credit per quarter, the additional credit(s) will be banked for later use.  A maximum of six banked credits will be permitted at any time and will be carried over until used.

POLICY:

In order to evenly distribute the membership obligation throughout the year, members need to record one monitor credit per quarter in order to be considered a member in good standing; this can be accomplished either by studio monitoring, earning alternative monitor credit(s) or deducting one banked credit from the member’s account. This policy will be enforced in a fair and consistent manner.

Members not fulfilling their obligations on a quarterly basis will be considered not in good standing.  Such members will not be permitted to use the studio, attend classes or purchase supplies.

Exception – a serious illness that precludes use of the studio for at least six months.

Hi Everyone -
There has been a concern by the Board that not all monitors are familiar with the miscellaneous duties that should be performed while filling the position.

Therefore, a NEW CHECK LIST will be provided for each shift to complete while monitoring. The form is attached for you information. At the Club, the forms will be located in the bin just inside the Kiln room (on the right).  This form MUST be completed with signatures before a monitoring credit will be given. The form needs to be placed in the Monitor in box (on the right across from the computer).

This will be effective June 2nd. Also, starting in June, the Club monitoring hours will change to 9:00 to 12:30pm on weekdays, closed on weekends. If there are circumstances where these monitoring hours do not fit your schedule, please see a Board person for approval to work at 'closed' times.
