E MAILS TO MEMBERS

Everyone -

There has been large amounts of build up in the drain collection receptacle. This could be a combination of glass particles and /or grout.

This is a reminder to scrap out glass powder before rinsing out your grinder. Use a yellow scrapper (in the dish drainer or on the shelf) to remove the glass powder. Place the sludge on a paper towel or newspaper, then rinse out the remaining debris in the grinder. Very little should be going down the drain.

Also as a reminder, grout should NEVER go down the drain. Use a disposable cottage cheese container or bring your own for disposal. Place ALL water used in cleaning utensils, sponges etc. in the large white buckets under the sinks.

These steps will make the clean up of the drain receptacles less frequent and keep our drains flowing freely.

Thanks in advance for your help -

Email requested by the man who cleans these receptacles.

Have a Safe and Healthy New Year -

The Board

Everyone -
It's becoming that time of year when more members are returning to the Club to create art pieces. This means that existing items under tables and on the shelves need to be consolidated or taken home until these items are needed.

All of the window shelves are taken. We have 3 windows coming to the studio side that were not completed in the Windows Workshop. They cannot be stored in the classroom because another windows class will be starting after Thanksgiving.

Please be considerate of you fellow members and make more space. Please don't forget to place your name and date on the place where your items are being stored.

Also, if anyone would like to recycle newspapers to the Club, we could definitely use them.

If there are questions, please talk with Bobbi or Marcia about you concerns.

Club Members –

There seems to be some misunderstanding about the steps that must be completed before taking advanced classes.

The advanced classes are for members who have completed intro classes, practiced and are comfortable in using techniques required to move on to the advanced class. There is extra studio work required where members are required to do work independently in between classes to complete class projects.

Fusing Principles has always been a prerequisite to fusing any artwork in the kiln. Glasswork (unless it’s dingleberries or small items requiring rounded edges for embellishments) WILL NOT be fired unless the member has completed the Fusing Principles course.

Any Mosaic classes require the Basic Mosaic class to be completed first. The advanced Mosaic classes (Mosaic on Glass, Mosaic on Backer-board & Decorative Mosaic) are limited to certain smaller size projects to develop the technique being taught so that larger future projects can be independently completed with confidence after class in the studio.

The Foiling and Soldering Workshop is suggested to refresh and perfect soldering techniques.

Lead Panel class is a prerequisite for the Windows Workshop. Lead Panel has a variety of patterns to choose from, again limited in size. The Windows Workshop is also limited to size, teaches advanced techniques. Students will be able to complete a window in this class.

The Boxes class (just being offered) is a fast paced class and requires precise detailed work. Panel Lamp is also technical.  A prerequisite for these classes might be the Three Sided Candleholder Class or a Foiling & Soldering Workshop.

Other advanced classes (foil and solder) are End of Trail and Dreamcatcher.

If you want a class that uses all accumulated techniques, try the Chef class.

Practicing cutting, foiling and soldering will make any project easier. Practice these techniques and classes will be gratifying for you and your classmates. Your expertise will also make the classes run smoothly and free the teachers to concentrate on all students and their projects. As a reminder, bring your tool box to class.

We have lots of Classes scheduled this year and hope to make these classes fun for all members and teachers!
